Frequently Asked Questions

What’s covered in an Antenatal Class?

Can I attend alone, or do I need a partner with me?

You are welcome to attend this class on your own. If you prefer to bring someone with you, like a birth partner, support person, birth doula, sister, mother, or friend, please do. Partners play a vital role throughout pregnancy, labour and birth, and it’s helpful for them to understand the early days of breastfeeding and the postpartum period.

What’s the difference between your independent antenatal classes and hospital based antenatal classes?

Hospital antenatal classes, while informative and educational, can often be busy and feel impersonal as there may not be enough time to answer your individual questions.

My antenatal classes are kept small for this exact reason. To ensure you receive the time and attention you deserve. I create a safe space for parents to open up, ask questions or share any personal concerns. My answers are always evidence-based and reassuring to put your mind at ease and build your confidence in making informed decisions during birth for you and your baby.

What happens during an antenatal class?

Each class starts by turning on the kettle and having a chat to get to know each other and release any nerves. I invite parents and partners to set the agenda to ensure we cover topics that are relatable to you.

Suitable for all family needs, my aim is to reduce stress or worries that might be on your mind in a relaxed environment where there’s no such thing as a silly question.

Who are these classes suitable for?

My Antenatal classes are inclusive environments open to all families, whether you are expecting yourself or via surrogacy or adoption. There is so much to learn about baby care and navigating life as a new parent, my antenatal class will help you to prepare and learn in a fun, relaxed space.

How far in advance do I need to book?

It’s recommended to book in at any stage from your second trimester onwards.

"To have Nicky check in on me and reassure any worries, concerns or questions I had was a wonderful piece of mind."

Nicky worked with me through my pregnancy and in the weeks and months after birth.
We had calls, zooms, and texts and I felt like I could ask her anything and there was no such thing as a silly question! We worked on my birth plan, my hospital bag, how to prepare my home, buggy and car seat suggestions, feeding options, everything! She is highly experienced, very professional, extremely compassionate and empathetic and is so dedicated to supporting her clients, to the point where you don't feel like a client, you feel like family. She's naturally nurturing, kind and caring and that was felt through every call, conversation and video. I confided in her and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking to work with her. It's the best investment you will make.
