The Kindness Fund

Supporting families to flourish through kindness

Families are at the heart of every community. They each have their own unique story to tell, but one thing they all deserve is kindness.

Especially those who may be facing a difficult time and need additional support.

The Kindness Fund was created to help families who lack access to the care they need before or after the birth of their baby.

As an Antenatal class teacher and a birth and postpartum doula, I see first-hand the excitement and nerves felt by expecting parents every day.

Welcoming your baby into the world is a precious and magical moment that can soon become overshadowed by worry without the right support.

Along with six colleagues, I aim to use the Kindness Fund to connect with families across Ireland and provide them with the resources and information they need to bring their babies into the world safely.

Who is the Kindness Fund for?

The Kindness Fun is aimed at supporting families and solo parents who may be facing challenging circumstances, including but not limited to:

A preterm birth or a sick baby in hospital.

A family who have lost a baby.

Facing financial difficulties as a result of fertility treatment or surrogacy costs.

Parents with mental health issues.

A parent with a severe illness or life-limiting condition

A parent who has passed away.

What can the Kindness Fund do?

With the Kindness Fund, we aim to help families and parents who need extra support during prenatal or postpartum stages.

Supports include:

A place in a group Antenatal class.

A minimum of 3 hours of daytime postpartum doula support, which includes emotional and physical support. This can include providing a listening ear to allow the parent to debrief after the birth, light housework, batch cooking or practical support such as breastfeeding support or baby care.

Specialised low-cost group Antenatal classes for families welcoming their baby through surrogacy.

Providing families with details on further community support, voluntary groups, patient advocacy services, or referrals to other professional support if needed.

Online 1:1 support for those who need individual care.

Any family who wishes to receive support can contact me directly and confidentially by email at nicky@bumpandcradle.ie

Donations will be accepted by families that I have worked with through my daily services.

A family can offer to donate an hour of postpartum doula services or a place in an Antenatal class, for example.

Get in contact if you would like to learn more about potential supports available.
